My 2nd Trimester Skin Care Haul from Healthy Options!

We're having a baby boy!

Onward to my 2nd trimester, my baby is of course big enough to show off its parts and Eric and I were thrilled to know we're having a strapping baby boy!

Since I got pregnant, I vowed to use only organic or all-natural products to protect my baby. I know that's kinda too paranoid of me.

But yes, that's me, sigurista and paranoid. Plus, I worked at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the Philippine General Hospital so maybe that also boosted the paranoia.

When my brother wanted to go 'vitamins shopping' at Healthy Options, I decided to tag along to also purchase basic necessities. So here were the stuff I got:

Healthy Options haul

Jason Softening Cocoa Butter

I read reviews about Jason Softening Cocoa Butter from a pregnancy magazine in the UK. The magazine said it's a good alternative to the popular Palmer's Cocoa Butter Tummy Butter and the Burt's Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter

Actually I have been looking for Palmer's and Burt's Bees Cocoa Butter lotions for quite some time now but I can't find them here. Eventually, I learned that Palmer's is being sold in Mothercare for Php 595. But by that time, I already bought my Jason Cocoa Butter for Php 395 at Healthy Options

I am already at my 5th month of pregnancy and I started using Jason Cocoa Butter at the start of the 2nd trimester (4th month).

So far, the experience has been awesome! It really did intensely moisturize my belly and my extremities.

When my skin started to stretch, I had to transition my moisturizer from mild to intense (see first trimester moisturizer here) and Jason Cocoa Butter really did its job! Until now, I still do not have stretchmarks.

I like the vanilla/cocoa scent too. Other Cocoa butter lotions smell like lemon/mint which I am not very fond of at the moment.

Jason Softening Cocoa Butter has no Parabens, SLS, Petrolatum, Artificial Colors, or Phthalates. I think this is a better alternative than other Cocoa butter lotions in the market. The price ain't too bad either.

Alba Botanica Mineral Terra Tints

Upon learning that I was pregnant, I started to ditch wearing make-up altogether, unless it was really necessary. Also, I opted using mineral make-up products like Ellana, Tarte, E.L.F., and this... Alba Botanica.

I have been using this tinted balm since college and it just gives a very light and natural tint on the lips. I loved it then and I still love it now. I bought it for Php 159 at Healthy Options.

Crystal Essence Mineral Deodorant

And lastly, I also switched my deodorant. When I got pregnant, my nose became sensitive to strong smells and I can't handle the deodorants being sold in department stores/groceries.

I got this Crystal Essence deo in Chamomile and Green Tea scent and it's just right for me. It is very effective even if it is mildy scented and it is also Paraben-free. I got it for Php 275.

Aside from these, I also switched my shampoo to Human Heart Nature's 100% Natural Clarifiying Shampoo and my soap to Healthy Options Oatmeal soap. Whew!

Truly, there are many ingredients/chemicals that need to be avoided because they may reportedly cause birth defects.

I believe it's always better to be on the safe side. And it feels good, too, knowing that I'm trying to do my best to take care of my baby even while he's still in the womb.

Cheers and have a blessed day!

Jacq
